How much money does InnoVentures invest?
We invest up to $300,000 in a first time disbursement and will follow on up to a maximum of $500,000 in a single company.
How is InnoVentures investment different from a bank loan?
There are several key differences.
- We invest in management teams, not collateral.
- We require little operating history and profitability is not a requirement.
- We work closely with management before and after investment to help the company become successful.
What is InnoVentures looking for in a company?
We will take a look at most any business with a strong management team
that has the ability to be successful in a good market.
What are the typical terms?
Our standard deal is an amortizing five year term note, with a personal guarantee and a warrant.
Does InnoVentures only invest in technology?
We are unique in that we do not have an industry specific focus. Our
portfolio includes a broad spectrum of manufacturing, services, and
technology. We have invested in everything from sunglasses to tax
preparation to web filtering.
Does InnoVentures take a board seat?
We generally require an observer position on the board.
Does my company have to return 10X on InnoVentures's investment?
No. We are looking for solid companies first and foremost and given our
venture debt model, we can invest for much more modest returns.
What do I have to do to start the process?
All we need is a business plan and a completed Investment Package. You
can submit them by mail or in person if you like. Either way, we will
start on it as soon as possible.
How long will it take to get a check?
The process usually takes about a month once we receive the required information.
Do I have to personally guarantee the note?
We ask that management and shareholders with greater than approximately 10% ownership in the company sign personally.

Does InnoVentures provide revolving loans?
No, unfortunately we are not able to administer these types of loans.
Our loans are straight debt with a maximum term of five years.
How much collateral must I have?
There is really no set limit. In general, the more the better but loans do not necessarily have to be fully collateralized.

We invest in Utah and the surrounding states.
